Foodstuffs South Island Ltd is a leading supplier of food into South Island homes and supermarkets so needless to say, when they built a new distribution centre in Christchurch, the facility would be of significant size. Completed in 2014 by Calder Stewart Construction, the Foodstuffs distribution centre has at any one time approximately 670,000 cartons and 13,000 pellets of food distributed from the centre every week.
With all of that produce on site, a lot of confidence is placed in the Roofing system that protects this stock from the elements. On a job of this scale two things become very important, weather tightness and a smooth and speedy installation system. Mega 5™ by Calder Stewart Roofing was chosen for its impressive coverage and spanning capabilities, plus it could be laid in quickly to meet the demands of the construction schedule. A massive 51,000 meters of roofing iron was supplied to the job to cover the roof, walls and line the ceilings. Mega 5™ has a proven track record on many commercial buildings large and small. Due to its cost efficient coverage, it has been used on projects like Fonterra’s 54,000m2 Darfield dry store and the Invercargill Velodrome, to name a couple.
Once again Mega5 has been the top choice for large scale commercial projects where big spans, low pitch and high rain collection areas feature, the strength and coverage of Mega 5™ make it the ideal roofing profile.
